 How Kids Can Use the The Global Egyptian Museum

Anyone can access The Global Egyptian Museum with a trial login and password. Children can also be registered by their parents as Junior members.

This page shows you how to sign up and login and what you will find in the Kids section.  

When you are ready to register for trial access or membership, go to the Global Egyptian Museum (GEM).


Everyone has to register their details and a password, even kids.  You can get to the Registration page by clicking on the pages as shown below.  

Click to Enter Choose Language Choose to Register
Click on Global Egyptian Museum to enter. Choose the language you want to view the site with. At the About the GEM page, choose to register for a membership or trial access.

Just fill in the blanks and follow the directions.  Once you have finished this, a page will appear with your new login and password that you can use immediately.

When you are through, Click on Kids from the top menu and you will see this special login page that will take you directly to the Kids section.

 

Kids can log in directly to the Kids section on this page.

 

Here, at the Kids Menu you can explore by clicking on the areas of the page. 

 The Quiz can be taken when you have explored all the options, and you can get a Diploma, if you pass.

Kids menu, Who is Who?, The Map, The Gods Explain and The Quiz.

 
From the Kids Menu.....

When you click on Who is Who?, you get this menu. You can click on any of these pictures to get more information about who they are.

Click on a famous person on this page to find out Who is Who.

 
From the Kid's Menu...

When you click on The Gods Explain this set of pictures of gods is shown.

Choose a god and they will explain things about themselves and their costume and give you a selection of subjects for more information.

We chose Hapi.

Choose a god, we chose Hapi. When you click, the god will tell you more.
Hapi tells you about his crown and why the Egyptians worshiped him.

He has a list of items that he will explain, you can click on them.

Also, there is a 12+ symbol....

The God Hapi introduces you to the Nile and farming.
When you click on the 12+ symbol, you get access to the glossary item that gives more detailed information.

Another  window pops up with the detailed information.  From that window you can choose many links to related subjects.

From the Kids Menu.....

When you click on The Map, you see a map with pictures of famous symbols and sights.

 

The Map has famous symbols and objects. Point to one to see city name.
Point at one, and the name of the sight will appear. 

We pointed at the symbol of the Aten, the sun with rays with tiny hands on the end of them. 

El-'Amarna appeared.

 

Click on the revealed city name to learn more.
Click on the name on The Map, and more information will be presented. Here is the page on el - 'Amarna.

There are other links to information on this page.

Each map item links to an information page, this one is about El Amarna.

Click on The Quiz and a window will pop up with a series of questions. 

 If you get most of them correct, you will earn a diploma!
