STEP 1 - Composition

First we had to think about composing
the image. Since we used 3D models to
illustrate, we found it useful to think about
the layers that would be needed to build up
the whole image. For example:

What is in the foreground? What is behind
that? What is behind that, and so on.

For this image, in near-to-far layers, we have:

1) a table
2) loose springs flying through the air
3) a sewing machine on the table
4) Michael's hand
5) a screwdriver in Michael's hand
6) the rest of Michael himself
7) the room that holds all these objects

As work progressed, a film projector was
used instead of a sewing machine. Michael's
Mom really needed her sewing machine to
remain in good working order.
